Friday night saw Channel 4 air a thought-provoking advert highlighting the hate and abuse that people starring in a diverse range of adverts have received online.

Partnering with advertisers including Nationwide, Maltesers and McCain the familiar adverts are featured with the messages of hate appearing across the screen highlighting the abuse that that has been targeted at each advert. The advert points out that face-to-face abuse is not tolerated so why should it be tolerated online where people can hide behind their screens judging and hating and discriminating against people who are different from what is their skewed perception of “normal”.

The hatred targets a gay couple shown in the family-focused McCain advert, disability activist and actor Sam Renke who stars in the Maltesers advert and performer Sugar J Poet.
